Frequently Asked Questions
Are repairs guaranteed?
Yes. We stand behind our work and provide a one-year warranty on both parts and labor for completed repairs. If an issue related to the original repair occurs during that period, we’ll address it accordingly.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
If the issue is intermittent—especially noises or performance changes—taking a short video can be extremely helpful. Much like a car problem that disappears at the mechanic, appliance issues don’t always present themselves during a service visit. Video documentation allows our technicians to see and hear the problem as it occurs, helping ensure a faster and more accurate diagnosis.
We also recommend clearing access to the appliance and noting any recent changes or error messages prior to the appointment.
How are you different from other appliance repair companies?
Our difference comes down to process. We focus on preparation, communication, and follow-through—before, during, and after the repair.
We use modern scheduling and communication tools to provide two-hour arrival windows and send a text notification (or a phone call, if preferred) approximately 20–30 minutes before arrival. Before we ever step into your home, our technicians review the service details and often narrow the issue down to a small number of likely components in advance.
Once a repair is approved, we don’t simply replace a part and leave. We take the time to address contributing factors that affect performance and longevity—such as removing lint buildup from dryers, cleaning refrigerator condenser coils, and confirming dishwashers are installed correctly. These steps help prevent repeat issues and are often overlooked in the appliance repair industry.
What can I expect when your technician arrives?
Our technicians arrive in clearly marked Top Notch vehicles and wear a black Top Notch polo with professional work attire. Upon arrival, they apply protective shoe covers before entering your home and take a moment to ask clarifying questions before beginning the diagnostic process.
Once a diagnosis is reached, the technician will review findings with you and present an upfront repair quote. With your approval, repairs begin immediately when possible. After the repair is complete, the technician will review the work performed, answer any questions, collect payment, and depart—leaving your home clean and treated with care.
How does pricing work?
We charge a service call fee of $139 for most appliances*. This covers the technician’s visit and diagnostic evaluation, and the fee is applied toward the cost of the repair if you choose to proceed.
Once the issue is diagnosed, we provide an upfront repair quote based on our flat-rate pricing system. We do not charge by the hour, so whether a repair takes 20 minutes or two hours, the price remains the same. This approach allows you to approve the repair knowing the full cost in advance.
* Stacked laundry and Retractable Downdrafts ($189), Under-Counter Ice Machines ($159)
Do you work on all appliance brands?
We service most major appliance brands. If you’re unsure whether we work on your specific make or model, our team can confirm before scheduling your appointment.
Do you offer same-day service?
Same-day service is sometimes available depending on scheduling and technician availability. We recommend booking as early as possible to increase the likelihood of same-day service.
What if my appliance can't be repaired?
If an appliance is not practical to repair due to cost, condition, or parts availability, we’ll explain why and help you evaluate replacement options. Our goal is to provide clear guidance so you can make an informed decision. For more information, visit our Repair vs Replacement guide.
Do I need to be home during the appointment?
Yes. An adult must be present during the appointment to provide access to the appliance, review findings, and approve repairs if recommended.
Do you carry parts on the truck?
Our technicians carry a wide inventory of commonly used parts. Many repairs can be completed on the first visit, though some situations require special-order parts depending on the appliance and failure.
Will my appliance need to be pulled out or disconnected?
In some cases, yes. Certain diagnostics and repairs require access behind or beneath the appliance. Our technicians take care to protect floors and surrounding areas during service.
Is it worth repairing my appliance?
That depends on several factors, including the type of failure, repair cost, appliance age, and overall condition. We provide honest guidance based on real-world experience to help you decide whether repair or replacement makes sense. For more information, visit our Repair vs Replacement guide.
Do you offer maintenance or preventative services?
In many cases, yes. During repairs, our technicians may recommend preventative steps—such as airflow improvements or cleaning—to help reduce the risk of future failures.
How long does a typical repair take?
Repair times vary based on the issue, but many repairs are completed within the same visit once the problem has been diagnosed and approved.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept common forms of payment, including major credit cards. Payment is collected once service is complete.
