Professional Dryer Repair

Dryer issues can affect daily household routines and raise safety concerns if left unaddressed. Our technicians diagnose dryer problems carefully using proper electrical testing, airflow evaluation, and manufacturer-recommended procedures. The goal is to restore safe, efficient operation while identifying contributing factors that can lead to repeat failures.

Common Dryer Issues

  • Dryer not heating or overheating

  • Long or inconsistent drying times

  • Drum not turning or stopping mid-cycle

  • Unusual noises or burning smells

  • Dryer shutting off prematurely

Our Dryer Diagnostic Process

When diagnosing dryer issues, the first step is confirming the appliance is receiving proper voltage. A dryer may tumble normally while still lacking correct voltage, which can indicate an issue within the home’s electrical circuit—from the breaker and outlet to the power cord and terminal block. Verifying that the electrical supply is operating correctly is a critical first step in any dryer diagnosis.

Next, we inspect the interior cabinet of the dryer to evaluate airflow. Proper airflow is essential to dryer performance and safety, and restricted airflow is one of the most common causes of dryer failure. In many cases, clogged or dirty dryer ducts are the root issue. For this reason, we strongly recommend professional dryer duct cleaning on a regular basis, typically annually, depending on usage.

We then inspect mechanical components and test electrical components to isolate the failure accurately and confirm the underlying cause.

Once the issue has been identified, we provide repair options ranging from the minimum required to address the immediate failure to preventative maintenance recommendations, based on our experience with your specific make and model.

Most dryer repairs can be completed in a single visit due to thorough appointment triage and our extensive inventory of commonly used dryer parts.

When to Repair vs Replace

Because many dryer failures are caused by airflow or electrical issues rather than the appliance itself, repair is often the better option—unless multiple major failures are present or critical parts are no longer available.

In most cases, homeowners choose to repair their dryer—and for good reason. Because dryers are typically located in laundry areas, appearance is rarely a deciding factor. More importantly, many dryer failures are caused by external issues such as improper electrical supply or restricted airflow from a dirty or clogged dryer duct. Simply replacing the machine without addressing these underlying conditions often leads to continued poor performance or repeat failures, even with a new dryer.

While a mechanical or electrical issue may still exist within the appliance itself, identifying and correcting contributing factors is critical. Without resolving these conditions, any dryer—new or old—can experience reduced efficiency, overheating, or premature failure.

Replacement may be the better option when:

  • Multiple major failures are present at the same time

  • Required replacement parts are no longer available or not readily obtainable

In these situations, investing in a new dryer may be more practical than attempting repairs that cannot be completed reliably.

For Optimal Dryer Performance:
  • Have dryer ducts professionally cleaned on a regular basis, typically annually, depending on usage.

  • Avoid overloading the dryer; the volume of clothes should not exceed approximately 50% of the drum capacity to maintain proper airflow.

  • Clean the lint screen after every use to reduce restriction and improve drying performance.

  • Select the appropriate drying setting. Because moisture sensors are often located at the front or rear of the drum, using a timed dry cycle may provide better results when drying mixed fabric types (such as jeans and cotton shirts).

  • Regardless of whether you use dryer sheets or alternative products, wash the lint screen periodically to remove residue buildup and ensure proper airflow.
